“A few months ago, I received an invitation by email to visit a site selling amateur photos. One section was entitled “Eyes Closed”, and featured photos of people asleep, dazzled by the sun, or simply surprised; among these were some post-mortem photos. This strange coexistence between life and death, where the gaze escaped memory through the image, troubled me. Curiously, I liked the sensation of floating, the time-out-of-time, the door open to elsewhere; the feeling of calm.”
